Senior Project Proposal

To quote one of my idols, Youtuber “Its Black Friday”- “I want to live in a world where one shouldn’t have to tone down their personal style, (…) to be taken seriously”. Everyone in this world has a unique way of expressing themselves.  Whether you’re a huge anime fan, pro gamer, goth or literature geek, your choice of individuality is what makes you, you. It means a lot to me that people have that ability free of ridicule, because I know what it’s like to be persecuted for being different from the rest. What I want to know is in what ways do different people express themselves, how those choices affect them, and why self-expression is vital.

        Firstly, I will need to research the psychology aspect of this topic. I need to know how and why all our minds are drawn to certain things and what those things do to our minds in turn. I must learn how our interests reflect our inner thoughts.  For that I might want to interview a psychologist or therapist. Next, I’ll need to find an expert on scrapbooking and crafting, because my final product will require those skills.  I could try a local craft store.

        When all my research is finished, I should have a thick scrapbook or portfolio of people, pictures of them, and their answers to a set of premade questions to help me and my audience better understand this topic using real life people to make it more relatable. As well as a recorded interview with my experts. I also hope to make a video in my free time in CMT class.

        This project is viable because it will help those who bully others for their individuality understand why these people are the way they are and hopefully help prevent bullying. It will also aid my subjects and audience in finding themselves and become comfortable in their own skin.  It is an important subject to me and millions of other people worldwide.
